Lahore Canal beautification plan on the cards

LAHORE - The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) is all set to prepare a master plan to beautify Lahore Canal to secure nature conservation interests and ensure social and recreational activities. Under the plan, green belts alongside canal will be improved by planning trees and flowers in abundance. To gravitate the attention of public, a number of picnic spots would be set up. Sitting arrangements, big umbrellas and kiosks would also be established. Stalls and makeshift shops would be installed

Islamabad: Construction of I-15 flats to start by year end

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) would start construction of residential flats in sec-

tor I-15 by the end of this year after short-listing the interested firm.

The Authority has planned to construct 8,000 condominium-styled housing units in the sector but the project got late due to delay in the short-listing of construction firms.

“The construction of residential flats would be started by this years end and the project would take another two years for completion,” said a senior CDA official here Friday.

Lahore: Drive against encroachments in Johar Town

THE Estate Management Directorate of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is going to start a major anti-encroachment campaign in Johar Town on Saturday (today).

The operation will be a joint action of the LDA’s Engineering Wing, the Town Planning Directorate and the Estate Management Wing in which the teams will remove all kinds of encroachments in the area. The LDA teams will also take action against the violators of building rules and regulations. The LDA planned this operation after conducting a complete survey of the area.

Islamabad: PHA flats balloting soon

Islamabad—Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) has received over two hundred thousand applications from federal government employees for construction of flats/apartments in the federal Capital.

The PHA sources told APP on Wednesday that scrutiny of the applications was going on and balloting of the flats would be held in June.

They said that response of the government employees was very much encouraging and that was why the date for submission of applications was extended up to April 30.

Islamaad: Work on Zero Point Interchange to start in July

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced tenders for the construction of multi-billion Zero Point Interchange project while tenders would be opened in late June this year and it would take another 10 days to start work on the project.

The tenders were floated after the federal government lifted ban on tenders of above rupees 50 million projects. A senior CDA official said Wednesday that the Authority has already pre-qualified five firms. Only one firm will be short-listed after opening of tenders next month.

Lahore: City Master Plan 2021 in the offing

LAHORE - The Punjab govt is likely to take up Integrated Master Plan-2021 in June to cope with the growing traffic, unplanned urbanisation and unchecked commercialisation in the City.
The master plan was started during PML-N government in 1998 with the personal interest of PML-N president and the then chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif. National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) has already prepared the plan while the district council Lahore had approved it. The project could not be executed due to ouster of PML-N government in 1999.

KARACHI: Government land allotments will be made to female family members according to a proposed five-point programme for women’s empowerment, Information Minister Sherry Rehman said on Sunday.

Addressing the International Conference on Women’s Leadership, she said her plan — yet to be presented to the cabinet — would also obligate 20 percent participation of women in public limited and autonomous organisations.

Islamabad: PM turns down CDA proposal: Housing project in Zone-V

ISLAMABAD, May 24: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday turned down a proposal of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) regarding development of a housing scheme for government employees in Zone-V by relaxing Islamabad Capital Territory Zoning Regulations 1992.

In a presentation to the prime minister, the authority requested him to allow development of a mega housing scheme to meet shortage of residential units in the capital.

Action against 103 housing colonies in Lahore

LAHORE 25, May 24: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started an operation against 103 unauthorised housing schemes in the provincial metropolis.

This was stated by authority’s director-general Irfan Ali during a visit to the LDA Complex here on Saturday.

Metro planning and Town planning officials told the DG that the site office of Doctors Society and four boundary walls had been demolished on Friday.
