Islamabad: US to invest $10 bn in Pakistan housing sector

A US oil company has agreed to invest $10 billion in the Prime Minister’s Housing Development Programme to construct one million houses.

In this regard, Secretary Housing and Works Sami-ul-Haq Khilji and IOC Country President Fazal-e-Rahim signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of the Pakistani government and the company, respectively. Minister for Housing and Works Rahmatullah Kakar, Pakistan Housing Authority MD Raja Muhammad Abbas and senior officials also witnessed the MoU signing ceremony.

Islamabad: IHC orders payment for G-14 acquired land in 15 days

Islamabad High Court (IHC) here Monday directed the land acquisition collector to make arrangements for the payment of acquired land within a fortnight for development of plots for

federal government employees, journalists and lawyers in Sector G-14.

ISLAMABAD: CDA to develop marriage lawns with all facilities

Capital Development Authority (CDA) will construct modern marriage lawns with latest facilities at different sites in the federal capital for the residents.

A high level meeting in this regard was held here on Friday, which was chaired by CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari.

Director PMO informed the meeting that 49 prominent firms have applied in response to the advertisement of which 16 have been pre-qualified after a detailed scrutiny.

The 16 firms have been asked to submit their financial status within a period of one month for further selection.

Islamabad: CDA announces award of three residential sectors

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday announced award of three residential sectors.

The announcement of award would envisage acquisition of 21,270 kanals of land in sectors D-13, E-13 and F-13. This is the first major step towards CDA’s commitment to launch seven new residential sectors in Islamabad.

The award was announced by CDA Shaikh Deputy Commissioner Najeeb Aslam under directive No. 888/DLR. CDA Director Land and Rehabilitation Chaudhry Asadullah Faiz, other officials and representatives of affected people were also present on the occasion.

Economic turmoil cues fall in property prices in Pakistan

KARACHI: Property prices have crashed by up to 35 per cent in all major cities over the past two to three months due to a tremulous financial market and investments being shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) real estate sector.

Experts and dealers in the local estate markets revealed that Pakistan is suffering from its worst ever property crisis. A 500 square yard plot in one part of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) initially priced at Rs12.5 million was sold for a mere eight million rupees.

Gilani approves 2pc quota for newspaper employees

Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has approved allocation of two per cent quota for newspaper employees in the Prime Ministerís Housing Scheme, says a press release.

For proper implementation of the scheme under which around one million houses would be built, a committee, headed by Federal Minister for Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar, has been constituted.

ISLAMABAD: CDA to launch five mega projects

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) would be taking five mega development projects in the next one and a half months for maximum utilisation of development funds allocated for financial year 2008-2009.

The budget document says the authority had earmarked Rs2 billion for these development projects including Zero Point Interchange, rehabilitation and expansion of Kashmir Highway, expansion of Garden Avenue and expansion and rehabilitation of Lehtrar Road.
