ISLAMABAD: Capital to have auto-city

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to construct an Auto City for motor workshops of the city.
According to sources, the decision has been taken on the directives of Ministry of Environment aimed at saving the citizens of the capital from pollution environment. The auto city would have motor clinics, workshops, show rooms, centres for purchasing and selling of old cars while shops of spare parts would also be opened in the sector.

ISLAMABAD, Nov 16: Housing industry may be in crisis in some developed economies, in the Pakistani capital it is booming - at least the price of land.
And the smell of money has made the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) suggest to the government to revive the Islamabad New City (INC) scheme which the two had launched in 1996 over a vast area in Zone V but had to abandon the venture after new power players emerged on the scene.

ISLAMABAD: Work on two-decade-old sectors yet to complete

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced that it will open more than five new sectors while development of already publicised sectors has not been completed due to a lack of funds.
Recently, the CDA has announced opening of new sectors D-14, E-14, E-15 and D-17 without considering that the development work on under construction sectors has not been started. Five sectors E-12, D-12, I-14, I-15, I-16 started in 1988 and 1990 are still awaiting development work including roads, electricity, sanitation and other facilities.

Islamabad Expressway set for express finish

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) often has had to face criticism and embarrassment over delayed projects yet for a change one of its mega projects is headed for an early finish.
The Islamabad Expressway, work on which began in April, is set to be completed four and a half months ahead of schedule, thanks to the contractor’s sizzling pace.
Officials said on Friday that the expressway that has five lanes on either side was fast nearing completion and was due to be formally inaugurated shortly most likely by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has once again planned to execute the Margalla Tunnel project that was shelved by the previous chairman in 2005, following severe criticism from the environmentalists owing to its threats to the natural beauty of Margalla Hills.
"We have another time planned to execute the project of Margalla Tunnel but now we would execute it at any cost," CDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Khan said Friday.
