Rawalpindi: RDA plans to reduce time for property transfer cases

The Land Estate Management Directorate of Rawalpindi Development Authority is working on a plan, which includes curtailing the period of property transfer cases from three weeks to 7-day period.

Highly placed official sources told ‘The News’ here Wednesday that the plan to reduce the period of transfer cases would be enforced in the best interest of the people who want to transfer their property within shortest possible time. This method would benefit both the dealing parties, the sources told.

New Islamabad International Airport: 70% work completed

ISLAMABAD: Over 70 percent work on NIIA has been completed. The project is worth Rs 24 billion and 3288 acres of land was allocated for it. Another 542 acres were allocated for secondary runway. The airport is 20 kilometers from Zero Point and 23 kilometers from Sadr Rawalpindi. Up to 6.5 million passengers will travel to and from the airport and 100,000 metric tons of different goods will be transported yearly.

LAHORE: LDA allows commercial activity on many roads

Contrary to its commercialization policy, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has allowed commercial activities on several roads.

Some days back, the authority carried out a grand operation against what it claimed illegal commercialization and sealed over 150 shops, including showrooms, restaurants, real estate and other business offices, etc, on Khayaban-e-Jinnah.

Citizens warned against fake housing schemes

Sindh Minister for Environment and Alternative Energy Shaikh Mohammed Afzal has shown deep concern over fake housing schemes in the city and said that stern action should be taken against those deceiving innocent people.

He expressed these views while talking to different delegations during his visit to various parts of Korangi. He was accompanied by relevant town officers.

KARACHI: Revision in property valuation to hurt construction industry

KARACHI: The construction industry might face challenges if government does not review the revised property valuation rates that have been increased up to 300 percent per sq yard, industry people said on Saturday.

Chairman ABAD, Engr. Farooq-uz-Zaman Khan, while talking to Daily Times strongly opposed the increase in valuation rates and said that the increase by 50 to 300 percent is not only exorbitant and unrealistic but also prejudicial to the interest of revenue as well as property owners.

80 acres of land recovered, six land grabbers arrested

In the third major operation against land mafia in Karachi, a joint team comprising officials of the city police and the revenue department recovered 80 acres of land in Somar Goth on Saturday.

According to details, several illegal structures were bulldozed in the operation in Somar Goth located in the Steel Town police precincts, while more than 40 police mobiles were present on the site.

ISLAMABAD: Construction of 2,000 flats inaugurated

Federal Minister for Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar inaugurated the construction work of 2,000 flats for low-income people in sector I-16 Islamabad.

Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) is constructing D and E type ground plus nine-storey apartments on an area of 132 kanals for which it has obtained no objection certificate besides acquiring 16 acres land. The project will be completed in three to three and half years.

Islamabad: Senate body asks CDA to withdraw fine on Sector I-16 allottees

The Senate Functional Committee on Government Assurances Monday asked Capital Development Authority (CDA) to withdraw notices issued to allottees of I-16 for imposition of fines due to delays in initiation of construction work.

The committee was of the view that CDA has failed to provide necessary facilities needed for undertaking construction work to the allottees.

ISLAMABAD: CDA planning to double property tax, water charges

Living in the federal capital is going to be tougher as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is planning to double the property taxes and water charges, besides imposing entry fee at public parks.

“We are trying to rationalise the taxation mechanism. This has not been revised for the last decade or more. Taxes in major cities of Lahore and Karachi are far higher than those of Islamabad,” said a senior CDA official.

As far as property tax is concerned, the authority would increase it in accordance with the value of the property.

Islamabad Sector I-15: CDA to enter into deal with Chinese firm

After five years of its launch, the Capital Development Authority is engaged in negotiation with a Chinese state-owned firm for development of the residential sector I-15 and the contract agreement is likely to be signed within fortnight.

“We are in negotiation with a Chinese firm. They met CDA high ups last week. We had disagreed to their estimates and asked for revision. They would come up again with revised costs next week,” a senior CDA official told this news agency.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is in the process of developing the federal capital into ‘Education City’ as negotiations are on with the local as well as international education’s institutes, having interested to establish their campus in enclave.

“We have invited the education institutes. Some of them have come up with their plans while several others have interested to set up their campuses and research centers here,” CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi told this news agency.

Lahore Transport Company, Bahria Town sign agreement for transport

Lahore Transport Company (LTC) and Bahria Town entered into an agreement for the provision of transport facilities to the general public from Bahria Town to Main Market, Gulberg.

Chief Executive LTC JI Kim and Senior General Manager Brig Bakhtawar Lal Hussain signed the agreement. Residents of Bahria Town, Azmir Town, EME Society, Thokar Niaz Beg, EXPO Centre, Johar Town, Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Allahhu Chowk, Jinnah Hospital and other localities will benefit from this transport project.

KARACHI: Drive against 14 residential schemes

900-acre land worth billions recovered

City District Government Karachi’s Revenue Department has recovered land of around 900 acres worth billions of rupees from the land mafia’s possession.

The anti-encroachment operation was launched in Gadap Town with a police contingent, 20 police vans and six Revenue Department vans carrying around 200 personnel including officers.

The operation was conducted against 14 residential schemes that were bogus, as the land mafia had demarcated land against each residential scheme and plots were also identified.

ISLAMABAD: CDA will divert attention toward Zone II and V

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Spokesman Ramzan Sajid said Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi wants to increase the housing units in the city. In recently announced budget, funds are not allocated for the new sector, so CDA will divert attention toward Zone II and V. “Meanwhile, we have demanded permission from Cabinet Division for the construction in Zone IV,” he said.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to make a policy to control housing problems of the city’s fast growing population.

According to sources, 90 percent of the people living in Islamabad do not own a house, so they are living either on rent or in government quarters. Government employees who have rental accommodation are paying almost twice of their ceiling.

KARACHI: Operation against land grabbers in Karachi on the cards

A high-level meeting held at the Governor’s House on Wednesday evening decided to launch an operation against land grabbers in Sindh, a statement said.

The meeting, jointly chaired by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, decided action would be taken against land grabbers without discrimination and all stakeholders would play a role to implement the Sindh Public Property Ordinance for removing encroachments.

The Malir Development Authority (MDA) has started refunding fee deposited against residential plots by the employees of the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) for the New Malir Housing Scheme (NMHS).

The scheme was announced by the MDA in 1997 for CDGK’s employees in basic pay scale 1 to 18.
