Islamabad: CDA to set up industrial estate in Sector I-17
ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) would soon establish an industrial estate in Sector I-17, said CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari. In this regard, a committee would be constituted to prepare the modalities for development of industrial estate after the acquisition of land.
Addressing a meeting with the executive body of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) here Tuesday, he said the first meeting of the committee will be held on August 1 and will subsequently meet once in a week.
The officials concerned were advised by the CDA chairman to issue a directive regarding formation of the committee.
The members of the committee include ICCI President Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi, former ICCI Presidents Khalid Javed, Tariq Sadiq and Abdul Rauf and CDA officers who will be nominated by Chairman CDA.
The chairman said there is an acute need for establishment of a vocational institute and asked Director Urban Planning for locating a suitable site for allotment of the said institute after completion of all the legal formalities.
"I have a dream that we - CDA and ICCI should establish an exemplary institute which will produce competent and skilled plumbers, electricians, horticulturists, mechanics, machinists, carpenters, masons etc," Kamran Lashari said.
He said these skilled workers after passing out from this institute will not only become the real representatives of Pakistan all over the world but also enhance foreign exchange and will directly and indirectly contribute to strengthening the national economy.
The meeting was attended by ICCI President Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi, former of ICCI presidents and senior CDA officials.
