ISLAMABAD: CDA to build 7 parking plazas

ISLAMABAD: The CDA plans to construct four parking plazas in the federal capital.

Earlier, it planned three plazas but now it has expanded the plan and there would be a total of seven parking plazas in various parts of the federal capital including Blue Area, G-9 Markaz and Mauve Area.

The CDA has asked seven construction firms to submit financial bids and after finalisation of required formalities the construction will start in the current year, a CDA official said.

Parking problems are growing in the city especially in Blue Area with every passing day but the CDA has yet to materialise its plan to construct parking plazas.

According to CDA building bylaws, every builder is bound to construct an adequate car parking in its building and the CDA is authorised to take action against builders who fail to provide adequate parking lots but unfortunately it has failed to implement its bylaws.

Lack of parking plazas and delay in development are major reasons for traffic mess in the federal capital and the problem has become a permanent feature of the city.
