Islamabad G-14 Allottees seek PM, CJ help to acquire land
The allottees of Sector G-14 while expressing concern and grievances over not acquiring of land and no construction work in the sector despite lapse of five years have demanded of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the issue.
The scheme was initiated by the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation in 2003 for those employees of the federal government who were near to retirement while a small share of plots in the scheme was also given to the working journalists of the federal capital.
At start, the plots were allotted at very reasonable prices as compared to the market rate on the concept that government employees, at least, should have their own house after retirement. But after lapse of over five years, the FGEHF couldn’t manage to acquire the land for the sector, due to which, cost of the land increased manifold. Now, the Foundation is increasing prices of the plots with the passage of time, which these aged pensioners are finding much hard to pay.
