KARACHI: Housing minister reviews public-private housing scheme

Federal Minister for Housing and Works Rehmatullah Kakar Saturday reviewed the progress of work of PHA-Maymar Towers, a public-private housing scheme in Maymarabad. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani had launched the scheme last year. Addressing the meeting, Kakar pointed out that the PHA-Maymar Towers was a big scheme and he was satisfied with its progress of work. It was agreed in principle that those flat allottees, who failed to deposit instalments within the stipulated time, would be allowed to deposit the money by March 15. The federal minister assured that there would be no cost escalation and possession of flats would be given to allottees as scheduled, since the people have full trust in this public-private project. Kakar appreciated the cooperation of the Pak PWD, Sindh government and KBCA in facilitating the smooth progress of the scheme. He said that keeping the cooperation of various Sindh organisations in view and the interest shown by the public, the government would soon launch similar schemes in Karachi. app
